Kathy Hochul’s Plan for Medicare: Cut Benefits and Raise Taxes
Politician Kathy Hochul is at it again with her false negative attacks. Her campaign is so desperate that they are using scare tactics and demagoguery to mislead seniors. Of course this is simply an effort to hide from her plan that would bankrupt Medicare, force massive tax increases on Western New York working families and small businesses and put unaccountable bureaucrats between seniors and their doctors.
“It doesn’t surprise me that Kathy Hochul is taking another page out of Nancy Pelosi’s playbook by trying to scare and mislead seniors. Hochul’s plan would bankrupt Medicare, cut benefits and raises taxes on job creators. Western New York seniors won’t be fooled by Hochul’s false negative attacks when they know that Jane Corwin will work tirelessly to preserve and protect Medicare in Congress.” – Erie County GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy
Non-Partisan Fact Check Calls Hochul’s Ads “Highly Misleading” And Editorials Call The Claims A “Total Lie”
FactCheck.org On “False” Democratic Attacks. “But to say the Republicans voted to end Medicare, as the ad does, is a major exaggeration. All seniors would continue to be offered coverage under the proposal, and the program’s budget would increase every year…In reality, people 55 and older won’t see changes under the Ryan plan…we don’t agree with the ad’s contention that the proposal ends Medicare…it seems intended to frighten those who are currently enrolled in Medicare.” (Angie Drobnic Holan, “PANTS ON FIRE: Democrats say Republicans voted to end Medicare and charge seniors $12,000,” PolitiFact, 04/20/11)
The New Hampshire Union Leader Called A Similar Ad A “Total Lie.” “The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, though, went further. That group claims the House Republicans ‘end Medicare.’ Period. That's a total lie. The political fact-checking sitePolitifact.com gave the claim a ‘pants on fire’ rating.” (Editorial, “Ending Medicare: A Big, Scary Lie,” The [New Hampshire] Union Leader, 4/23/11)
