Leadership

Nicholas A. Langworthy, Chairman

Nicholas A. Langworthy was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Erie County Republican Committee on May 5, 2010.  He was elected to a full term in September 2010.  He is the youngest person ever to be elected Chairman of any Political Party in Erie County, and is the youngest Republican County Chairman in New York State.

In his tenure as ECRC Chairman, Langworthy has reengergized the Party and placed a major emphasis on growing the grassroots of the GOP while sticking to core Republican principles of smaller government, lower taxes and greater personal responsibility.

Chairman Langworthy has served as a dedicated Republican for his entire adult life.  As a student at Niagara University, Langworthy founded a chapter of the College Republicans.  He went on to travel across the state recruiting students to start campus chapters and to get involved in local Republican campaigns during his tenure as Chairman of the New York State College Republicans.

After graduation, Langworthy worked as a district staff member for Congressman and former Erie County Republican Chairman Tom Reynolds.  This allowed Langworthy the opportunity to serve Western New York taxpayers and learn valuable political lessons about winning tough elections in a "deep blue" county.  That five-year tenure culminated with the duty of serving as Congressman Reynolds' Campaign Manager for the 2006 election.  This was one of the most hotly contested campaigns in the country and certainly the most expensive campaign Western New York has ever seen.  Langworthy's leadership was instrumental in a hard-fought victory over Beltway Democrats and their liberal special interests allies.

Following the election of County Executive Chris Collins, Langworthy served as the Erie County GOP's Executive Director.  This was a period of great transition within the local GOP as several Party Stalwarts opted to retire from elective service.  Langworthy implemented the day-to-day operations of the Republican party while working to rebrand the Party as an organization that fights for local taxpayers by bringing common sense private sector principles into government.

In 2008, Langworthy successfully managed the congressional campaign of Chris Lee to replace the retiring Congressman Tom Reynolds.  By using the formula of focusing on a message and issues important to taxpayers, and raising the necessary resources to communicate that message, Langworthy helped Lee achieve an overwhelming victory despite the Obama tidal wave sweeping the country.

Langworthy went on to serve as District Director for the 26th Congressional District, helping ensure Western New Yorkers received effective representation and constituent service they deserve.

A 1999 graduate of Pine Valley Central Schools, Langworthy attended Niagara University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2003.  Langworthy, a life long Western New Yorker, is a native of South Dayton, New York and currently resides in North Buffalo.
