Nicholas A. Langworthy, Chairman

Nicholas A. Langworthy was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Erie County Republican Committee on May 5, 2010.  He was elected to a full term in September 2010 and again reelected in 2012.  He is the youngest person ever to be elected Chairman of any Political Party in Erie County, and one of the youngest Republican County Chairman in the nation.

In his tenure as ECRC Chairman, Langworthy has re-energized the Party and placed a major emphasis on growing the grassroots of the GOP while sticking to core Republican principles of smaller government, lower taxes and greater personal responsibility.

Since Langworthy has become chair, the Party has been growing, winning and leading. This past November, a Republican majority was elected to the Erie County Legislature for the first time since 1977. This era of Party Leadership has led to other great victories including the election of Congressman Chris Collins, County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw, County Clerk Chris Jacobs, and the reelection of Sheriff Tim Howard. Chairman Langworthy continues to grow local Republican representation by recruiting strong, Conservative candidates to serve at the town and village levels of government.

Chairman Langworthy has served as a dedicated Republican for his entire adult life.  As a student at Niagara University, Langworthy founded a chapter of the College Republicans.  He went on to travel across the state recruiting students to start campus chapters and to get involved in local Republican campaigns during his tenure as Chairman of the New York State College Republicans.

After graduation, Langworthy worked as a district staff member for Congressman and former Erie County Republican Chairman Tom Reynolds. Working in this position allowed Langworthy the opportunity to serve Western New York taxpayers and learn valuable political lessons about winning tough elections in a "deep blue" county.  That five-year tenure culminated with the duty of serving as Congressman Reynolds' Campaign Manager for the 2006 election.  This was one of the most hotly contested campaigns in the country and certainly the most expensive campaign Western New York has ever seen.

Langworthy has also served as the Erie County GOP's Executive Director.  This was a period of great transition within the local GOP as several Party Stalwarts opted to retire from elective service. Langworthy implemented the day-to-day operations of the Republican party while working to rebrand the Party as an organization that fights for local taxpayers by bringing common sense private sector principles into government.

Langworthy went on to serve as District Director for the 26th Congressional District, helping ensure Western New Yorkers received effective representation and constituent service they deserve.

A lifelong Western New Yorker, Langworthy is a 2003 graduate of Niagara University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science   He is a 1999 graduate of Pine Valley Central School in South Dayton, NY.  He and his wife Erin reside in Amherst with their daughter, Madeline.
